About the event
Ash Wednesday is one of the most important events of the Christian Year. It is a 'day of obligation' where we ought to prioritise our attendance at the Holy Eucharist to begin this season of preparation for Easter properly.
Our foreheads are marked with ash to remind us of our need of God's mercy and forgiveness as we contemplate our fragility as human beings. We will hear the words, 'Remember that thou art dust, and unto dust shalt thou return. Turn away from sin, and be faithful to Christ".
Our journey to the joy of Easter and Christ's glorious resurrection must first endure the Good Friday and the cross.
